GUANGZHOU

Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province, located in the southern part of China, on the shores of the South Sea, at the mouth of the Pearl River. Guangzhou is a city of 2 200 years history: it was established as Chutung on the middle reaches of the Yangtse River in the 9th century BC by the Chu people, then it became Nanhai Prefecture during the Qing Dynasty, later it was Nanyue Kingdom during the Western Han Dynasty. Guangzhou is the earliest international trade port in the world. It was the starting point of the Silk Road that linked country with the Arabian and Western countries for trading by sea. It had been the only international sea trade port in China till the Qing Dynasty. Now it’s a famous ancient cultural city (it was the capital for five dynasties (907 - 960)), modern metropolis, the largest industrial and commercial city and a port in the south of China.

Guangzhou is often called as the City of Flowers because of its subtropical humid monsoon climate that allows the flowers bloom all the year round.
