The tour "Circum Baikal Railroad"
 

Circum Baikal Railroad is a unique monument of technical thought and construction architecture of Russia at the end of the 20th century. It's one of the transport wonders. The railroad is making its way through the rocks of the Maritime mountain ridge over Baikal. "The Golden Clasp" connecting East and West of Transsib. Circum Baikal Railroad is one of the most beautiful and technically sophisticated railroads. 39 tunnels, 47 galleries, 6 viaducts, 29 medium-sized metal bridges, 411 small bridges were built. The longest tunnel is 807 meters long, the largest single-span bridge is 123 meters long. Today you can see well-preserved portals and arches of different tunnels made from ashlar, a lot of viaducts, thick retaining walls, wooden constructions in modernist style of the beginning of the last century.

ITINERARY

Day 1.  Arrive in Irkutsk, transfer to the hotel***/****. Accommodation at the hotel. City tour, including a visit to the main sights of interest. You'll see buildings created in beautiful Siberian baroque, Russian classical style, in neoclassicism and constructivism, nice merchant houses and wooden houses so typical for old Siberia. Visit to Znamensky nunnery famous for its original iconostasis and the site of foundation of Irkutsk fort. 

Day 2. Transfer to the railway station. Tourist train Irkutsk-Sljudianka-port Baikal-Listwianka Village (on Wednesday and Saturday only). Lunch on the train. Transfer to the hotel in Listwianka. Accommodation at the hotel***.

Day 3. Full day at the Baikal Lake, the deepest lake in the world. Tour to Baikal Museum (so called Limnological Museum) with Aquarium offering a great variety of species of fauna and flora of Lake Baikal and the lake history. Lunch at the restaurant on the shore of Baikal Lake. 1-hour boat trip on the lake. Overnight in Listwianka village. 

Day 4. Transfer to Irkutsk afternoon. Visit to the Open-Air Museum of Wooden Architecture on the way. It occupies the territory of 70 ha. A unique collection of historical and cultural memorials of Eastern Siberia peoples. Accommodation at the hotel in Irkutsk ***/****. 

Day 5. Departure transfer to the airport or railway station. Departure.

Included: transfers, accommodation, breakfasts and 2 lunches, english/ german -speaking guide, entrance fees,  transportation according the program, business class on the tourist train (Circum-Baikal Railway).
