Shangri-La Express (China Orient Express)
China has many magnificent wonders to explore, most of which are difficult to
reach by road or air, but aboard the China Orient Express you'll experience
first hand people, places and culture, each one vastly diverse from the other.
There is only one class cabins in the Shangr-La Express, it's the heritage
class. Heritage class sleeping cars on the China Orient Express offer passengers an ideal
cozy environment in which to experience the many delights of the Chinese countryside.
The cabins/ compartments are twin berth with upper and lower berths. The lower
berth converts to daytime sofa seating. The temperature in compartments is
centrally controlled.
However because we use both trains, Shangri-La Express and Golden Eagle
Trans-Siberian Express, on the Silk Road journey, we use the Silver and Gold
classification. And if passengers travel in Gold Class they will get 2
interconnecting compartments/ cabins on the Shangri-La Express to give them
double amount of space than if they have Silver Class.
A wash basin facility is shared between adjoining compartments for the
convenience of the guests. And toilet/ wash facilities are available at each end
of the sleeping cars/ carriages. There is a separate shower car on the train, it consists of 8 separate shower
compartments and dressing rooms.
RESTAURANT
The Chinese chefs offer a variety of gastronomic local specialities at lunch
and dinner using the finest of local ingredients. Quality wines from around the
world are served with both lunch and dinner, along with beer, soft drinks, tea
and coffee. (Special diets and celebratory events can be catered for with
prior notice).
BAR CAR
The Bar Car, featured on every departure, offers a relaxed setting to met and
chat with your fellow passengers whilst watching the passing countryside.
Serving an extensive array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, the bar
stays open until the last person leaves.
There are books and magazines to help you while away the hours and on board
pianist soothes a tired mind with an assortment of classical favorites each
evening.
STAFF
Attentive, personal service awaits our guests and as an attendant is
assigned to every sleeping car you will be assured the best in care and
attention with our staff providing a daily bed make up and turn down service.
Complimentary round the clock tea, coffee and mineral water are also
provided.
An experienced, English speaking Tour Managers and Tour Staff will be present
on every departure to ensure the smooth running of your adventure holiday.
