Horseback Journey 
Ulaanbaatar – Kharakorum - Tsetserleg – Tsagaan Nuur - Ulaanbaatar

Discover the remarkable beauty of Arkhangai, as we horse trek through this beautiful grass steppe region, stopping to visit local families who herd horses. We’ll camp along the shores of many of the area’s rivers with the opportunity to hike and explore on foot. Our final destination will be Khorgo-Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National Park. Completely undeveloped, the park contains one of the most beautiful lakes in Mongolia, Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur, which was formed thousands of years ago when lava from a nearby volcano flowed into the Terkh River creating a natural dam...

Duration: 9 days/8 nights.

Prime season: May,15 - October, 01.

ITINERARY

Day 1.  Arrive in Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to hotel***. Ulaanbaatar city tour. In the afternoon visit the Natural History and the National History museums. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2. After breakfast driving to Kharakorum – the ancient capital of Mongolia. On the way box lunch at Elsen Tasarkhai. Arrive at the tourist camp. Dinner. Overnight at the tourist camp.

Day 3.  After breakfast visit Erdene Zuu monastery. This Monastery is the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia. Lunch. Meet horses and wranglers. Ride 35km (20mi) to the way of Tsetserleg, provincial center of Arkhangai Province. Overnight at the tourist camp.

Day 4.  After breakfast ride 35km (20mi) along Tamir River. Overnight at the tourist camp.

Day 5. Ride 35km (20mi) to the way of Khorgo-Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National Park. Overnight at the tourist camp.

Day 6. After breakfast driving to Kharakorum. Overnight at the tourist camp.

Day 7. After breakfast driving back to Ulaanbaatar. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 8. After breakfast visit the Gandan functioning monastery. In the afternoon visit the Bogdkhaan winter Palace. Shopping. In the evening folklore show. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 9 Transfer to airport or railway station. Departure.

*The tour will expect some previous experience and an increased level of fitness. Moderately challenging with moderate fitness levels required. Previous experience in most activities not required but desirable for certain activities e.g. horse riding.

Included: accommodation in hotel in UBT*** (twin), accommodation at the tourist camp (twin only), full board at the tourist camp (not in Ulaanbaatar), guide-interpreter, excursions as per itinerary, entrance fees to all museums and National parks acc the programme, all transfers, local taxes, horse riding fee, folklore show.
